Writing Is The Best Medicine

I feel so much better today. Of course, writing about something always helps me clarify what I'm feeling. Thanks for listening!

I have been attending the Blogging Trifecta on Elana's Website. Lot's of really awesome information. I pitched the idea of blog critiques. I thought it would be beneficial not just to the blogger that is critiqued but also to others. For myself, I want to know what things are missing from my website. Now, with the stats option in blogger I am aware that there are lots of "lurkers". How do I get them to become engaged enough to become a follower or better yet post a comment?

What do you think about the critique idea? In continuing with that idea. What would you like to see on my blog that isn't here? What's missing?

Well, I have an outline to finish. Have a great day!

  1. I got your email, so I don't want you to think I'm ignoring you. I'm just stewing and trying to keep up with a plethora of things. I'll get back to you, but I think the blog critique idea is very fun!

  2. That's a very interesting idea. I'd be up for that.

  3. I've tried to promote the same concept since I started blogging last year. I think often people are under a misconception about critiquing in that they might feel that they are hurting someone's feelings. In some cases I think that might be true and those people are looking for something different than you and I.

Personally, I want to improve my writng and blogging. Heck, I don't even mind if someone corrects my spelling, grammar, or puntuation. It would be like having an editor. As long as somebody's not personally attacking me and giving me advice that intended to improve something I'm doing I say bring it on.

Your bringing up the topic puts you in a positive light for me. I honestly haven't followed you enough to have anything to suggest to you, but in this particular post you did very good blog things: alluded to another blog and event, suggested a thoughtful topic, and asked good questions. I don't know why this wouldn't have inspired lurkers to stop and say something because you did it right! Your post was short, and sweet, and highly readable. You did your part right.

I think sometimes the stats can be deceiving. A lot of the hits appear to be fly bys who are not reading--at least that's what it looks like on mine. Then again maybe readers looked at this topic and got scared because of the thought of being critiqued. Well, you can critique me anytime.

This was a fine post and you deserve more followers, but I'm sure they'll be coming as you start posting more often and commenting on other blogs on a regular basis.

And there's wordy me with a comment longer than your post. Hope I didn't rattle on too much for you.

  4. Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I get wordy too! I love words, what can I say? I so agree with you. I am here to succeed so I'm going to look for advice, direction and support from those that have been at this longer than me. We can learn so much from each other.
