About The Book: Everybody calls Phillip Isaac Penn, Pip. And usually they yell it at the top of their lungs. Sure he might forget to close the classroom mice's cage door, or leave his Mother's hair dryer in bathtub (hey, it's unplugged), and he might even make it so that Liar Lizzy gets caught, but that doesn't make him bad. It's just not easy being a kid.
First Line: Hello, my name is Pip. Please don't laugh. It really is my name.
Great Quote: "The veins on the side of his head were growing bigger every time he asked me another question."
What Others Are Saying: "Loved! This book is so cute. Phillip Isaac Penn (PIP) is your typical elementary school kid who really doesn't try to get in trouble, it just seems to happen. This book reminded me a lot of life at my house growing up with 3 little brothers. It makes me wonder if they did all the stuff I got mad at them for on purpose or not." -Mariah Overlock on Goodreads
What I Think: This was a quick fun story. It reminded me of when my son would come home from school telling me how awful everything was. Pip seems to get blamed for everything but sometimes it isn't his fault. I do think that the character could have been developed more, he had such a great voice. This is great for a reluctant boy reader. Each chapter is almost a story in itself which makes it ideal for a child just trying to get use to chapter books. It is really funny too!
